Another convert, welcome. I've thoroughly enjoyed my 4C with very little regret trading in my Elise, though I must admit to a little tear in my eye as I watched Edd upgrade one on Wheeler Dealers.
Welcome to the 4C forum. You will love the car. Of course you have to put up with lack of space, noise, firm ride...oh wait you come from owning a Lotus ;-) Seriously though...Lotus Exige was the only other car I would have considered but no longer available in the US. But I think you will find the ALFA is a bit more updated technology and performance wise. Not sure about the Evora...think I still prefer the 4C. And if you want even more power check out EC.
The evora is bit more civilized.. It doesn't feel like a little race car even if it sounds great. Lotus guys definitely get the 4c. Bikers also get the 4c... Just see who notices the car the most on the road.... guys on sport bikes.
Now that I've had some seat time, I have to comment on the transmission. This was one of my biggest concerns.. Would the 4C give me the driving experience I loved from my Lotus.
Well I couldn't be happier. While I am a fan of manuals in driver cars, the twin clutch is awesome. Love being able to set the car to my driving mood > Don't miss the manual at all.. Which really surprised me.
Want to snap up and down the gears in some spirited driving? No problem.. Dynamic mode set to manual. Minutes later I can let my step-daughter (with only a learner's permit :surprise: and no manual experience) drive in auto. Simply brilliant!
I'm keeping my Elise for now, so I have a 4C Spider and an Elise in my garage, both yellow. They do drive differently, and I like the manual in the Elise. The Elise seems a bit more connected to the road and a bit more sparse. The 4C is more solid and the engine is a blast -- the turbo is always spun up and ready to go.
To me, they both offer different but enjoyable driving experiences. Now my question is always which one to drive when I'm headed out!
