Just drove the gulia quadrifoglio

Just took the guilia quadrifoglio for a drive,

Just some snappy thoughts, as i booked a week in advance, thinking i would have the car to myself, and my wife,

..without an escort....

Now, my biggest beef, is, being loyal to a dealer and paying cash for our 4c, should hold you in good sted,

Considering also im an officer of the law,

Anyway, what i thought would be at least 45 minutes to an hour of my wife and i talking as a couple, to consider the pros and cons, and for ladies, the interior, smell and fell,

We had one of the salesman in the rear, just talking about the car,

My wife was immediately turned off, so i forceably made the drive just 20 minutes...you guys know what i mean, you need to test these things as a life decision with your better half, in peace,

Anyway

In australia, these cost about $180,000 fully loaded with all options, if not more,,

Was the car good,,

Yes

Did i feel the engine,

Yes

Is it a revelation for alfa romeo

Yes,

but,

Would i drop that sort of coin for it compared to something else?

I dont think so,,

Substantially more than a 4c, more refined, yes, built around the 2.9 litre fantastic engine,

But, in austrlia we pay a lot for carss, due to our luxury cars tax,

I dont think its worth in the $180 k range,

The 4c at least is pushing the boundaries of affordability, but,

Your always satisified with what you paid for,

So

The ride in the guilia, is great, the dash tells you everything sbout the mode and suspension settings youve selected,

The engine pick up and eight speed auto we get here is great,,

But, i dont think its worth the coin, given our economy in aus,

For 180 k or leass id rather buy a used bentley w16,

Having said that, the car is impressive, finish is nice, (except for the black plastic rear diffuser)

But so over priced,

Personally, i would rather buy an edition one amg c63 coupe,

Just my thoughts,
4Canada, (ZO) and Alf Alpha like this.

Current car:

2016 Australian delivered Giallo Prototipo (Yellow) 4C Spider, full clear Hexis wrap, dry carbon fibre 3m wrap on:rear spoiler, roof halo, rear engine black plastic vents, front air intake,Red Aussie rimskins covers on 18 and 19 inch dark spider alloys,

Previous cars:

2006 Alfa 959 Spider 3.2 V6 Q4 manual,Blue/two tone tobacco and blue interior
1999 VT Series II HSV R8 sedan
1974 HQ GTS 253 Monaro sedan
1969 Holden HG GTS 350 Bathurst Monaro coupe

Just drove the gulia quadrifoglio

Don't know where u got the price tag of $180k. Is a sticker price at $160k drive away at all AR dealers and in fact I am aware of an order that has been done at $153 drive away.
As for a C63, great car, good resale, though would go the Guilia all day long over a mass seller as the C63. Have owned German Marques and the wife drives one every day, as great as they are, a special car in my opinion is still the Alfa Romeo Giulia, a car that says I am unique and not just another car or an enthusiast that conforms with the masses and I do have left field thoughts of what makes a great car.

Alfisti- U have to be one to understand why!

$180K? $160K? $153K? Are U guys serious?!? I'm in Italy right now. Giulias are everywhere. They're basically a nice sedan.

BTW, I REALLY like my Pontiac G8 with LS motor. Thank you Holden! Paid $25K for it in 2010 and could sell it for that now. They're starting to go up in fact as being the last, great "Pontiac."

U said it. In Australia luxury cars incur a additional tax. It's ludicrous what we aussies pay for a car. Believe it, a 4c LE brand new was $130k when it first cakes out

Dont forget the 160 k on road doesnt include all options,

Choice of wheels will cost more,

Choice of calipers colour,

Ceramic brakes will cost more, (a lot more)

The one i drove had option of carbon fibre and alcantara steering wheel which was heated, extra cost apparently

Aparently other options including seat types,

Dont get me wrong, i love the car, but $180 k or 170k or whatever it ends up being fully optioned, doesnt make it

Easy to justify,

Yes cheaper than porches, ferrari , yes and amg top models, in oz, again top dollar due to luxury car tax, and just because they can charge more in oz,

But i guess what im saying, is we pay way too much with luxury car tax nonesense here in oz,

All cars lose money, given and i bought my 4c as a keeper, and was very happy given the price bracket compared to others,

But, i dont think the guilia quad will be as remembered or unique as the 4c,

But may end up like the 147 gta, and 156 gta, which were uber expensive, novel and powerful when they came out, and

Now (despite the fact i appreciat them) dated and fairly cheap now,

The 4c is a work of art,, a revolution,, the guilia is sexy, but merely an evolution, if that makes sense,,

Now a 4c with the guilia engine??,, thats what im talking about,,

Sure it's expensive but It's cheaper than the Merc

Personally I'm not a fan of the c63 edition one coupe, there is something that's just wrong about them for me(probably a few things actually)

I wouldn't buy one new at the moment as because there is a wait list there aren't many feels being made

M3 competition on the other hand you can have 128k drive away, now that cheap (still wouldn't get it to boring)

Saw the base models at zagames of the weekend, loved some of the specs they had in the show room, im totally over black leather interiors, and they have a tan, a red and a white interior, makes the cars look really expensive

The only other car I would even consider over the Giulia QV is the 2018 E63 AMG.

But simply because I love wagons/estates. I was one of the few heartbroken the Giulia Estate was cancelled although understand its limited appeal.

You guys in AUS pay some heavy import taxes!

What's a Holden, Daddy? ..... It was a car they used to make in Australia, Son...The Govt of the day couldn't do what every other Govt in the world does and support its own car manufacturing industry.... A conversation to be had between son and father in Oz 30 years from now.
