Waze on Parrot working for anyone?

My Parrot is running the latest firmware but yet Waze refuses to launch. It will launch the first time but then will crash every subsequent time. Is it working well for everyone else?

Not at all. Same for me - works once and then doesn't launch again. I've deleted and reinstalled it, spent hours entering my credentials - again and again - try to navigate to a route and it says it can't contact the routing server and then it never works again. It's the only app I wanted to work!

Thanks for the suggestion. Already did. Problem is that this is a modified version of Waze that is quite different from what runs on your smartphone. It is an old version that is among other things optimized for nontouchscreen input. No info on there and the Parrot forum is dead. I was hoping someone here had a solution since all of us with coupes had this radio from the factory.

WAZE requires a number and other character in password and I can not seem to access those on the Parrot.
The numbers and special characters are there - just on a different page. Don't remember exactly how to get there (think you might need to press the menu button while on the keyboard page). I tried it ages ago, and gave up when I couldn't get Waze to work.

Could it be a phone compatibility issue?

For those who say it works or does not work for them, can you post the phone and OS version you are using?
Or have you tried with a few phones?
Or are you using a USB internet stick (I know that Parrot is fussy about some of those - there are known issues).
I assume you are using this with BT tethering to the phone - or is anyone plugging the phone into one of the supplied cables?

Just trying to help. I'd like to some day try Waze, but not that high on my priority list right now.

What I've noticed is that Waze doesn't bail if I turn off my mobile hotspot. It also doesn't work because there's no network, but just an observation. It seems it's not happy with something to do with the network connection. I've only successfully established a Bluetooth tether to the iPhone's mobile hotspot. Has anyone managed another connection type?

Spent some more time with this, still no luck.

I'm pretty sure it's not an issue with the connection to the phone. The fact that I can log in to Waze, see my Home, Work and Favorite addresses tells me that part is working. I'm guessing that the issue is due to some change in Waze's routing server, and it no longer understands the request format being made by this old Waze version.

If Waze is working for others would you be able to post what version of Waze is installed on your Parrot, and which Parrot OS you're running? Thanks!

Yep. This is the conclusion I came to myself. But all may not be lost. This happened to me once back in January/February when I had the car for only couple of months. Previously, Waze was working wonderfully. I used it regularly and the routing was great. Then one day it just stopped being able to communicate with the routing server. Everything else was working fine, just no turn by turn routing. I did everything. Removed, reinstalled, log out, logged back in...all to no avail. Then one day a couple of weeks later, it started working again with no problems. So I believe the issue is with the Waze servers themselves and it may just fix itself once they realized they broke something on older versions. (or they may not care about the older versions anymore and just leave it broken.)

I think it may be useful for all of us who are experiencing the problem to actually contact support and let them know what has happened. They may not know about the issue and if they get more than one or two crazy people with Alfa Romeos and end-of-lifed Parrot head units, they just may get around to fixing it.

P.S. I'm running the latest (v2.1.1) of the Parrot/Android OS and the latest version of Waze downloadable from the Parrot App store.

7 to 8 months later....., has anyone managed to find a cure for the crashing Waze....., though sadly I get the feeling it's pretty unlikely!
Like others before, I can log in once, then it crashes every further attempt. Following the usual un-install/re-install/login process it works once, then crashes repeatedly.
I know I may be looking for a miracle but..., has anyone found a solution??

Sadly no. I stream everything, including Waze, over Bluetooth. I use TuneIn for radio. Music from my phone's playlist. I really don't use any of the Parrot's features aside from the BT connectivity to my phone.

I mount my phone to a Kenu Airframe on he vent above the Parrot's display and it's all quite convenient and streamlined to use.

Unfortunately I think the Parrot's days as a supported platform are gone, so unless some tech-curious Parrot owner decides to hack it themselves, it's pretty much an obsolete unit.

I have upgraded to my parrot to latest 2.1.1 and have blue tooth based networking enabled and working on my parrot (i:e google maps works fine). I have the latest waze from parrot (which is chronically old). It does start and "run" and doesn't seem to crash. But waze changed the protocol, for the routing engine for the current versions of Waze , AFTER the version we have on the parrot. therefore the parrot version of waze app can no longer "talk" to the waze servers for routing/direction info. So you get maps and notifications (accidents, cops etc), but no directions to a destination.

no routing directions means waze app on parrot is not usefull to me, you may feel different. Given the above i don't think it matters much if it crashes or not :)

If you are interested There's a list of apps that do and do not work here that i have tried installing on my parrot
